I wanted to take a contemporary twist on traditional Japanese designs as seen in the Edo period pattern books I studied. I am especially inspired by Rimpa school, since like forever, but that not necessarily translates to contemporary fashion tastes. I picked the beloved cherry blossom, pine trees, shibori pattern, and mixed them up with leopards, painterly dots, geometric shapes, and doodle lines. I was aiming at something cheerful and playful.
